I designed these circular birthday cards made with Cricut as a bit of fun, to make something a little different - and I had a lot of fun making them - I'm currently waiting for a birthday coming soon so I can send one too!
These cards are actually pretty easy to make, and look really unusual and striking!
Because I really wanted to keep the pure circle shape, they are a little temperamental to balance when displayed. Sometimes, they'll balance perfectly the second you set them down, and other times, it'll take a few attempts to get them to balance nicely and stand up straight. That's just something I wanted you to be aware of before we start...
The cards are basically made in exactly the same way as my main card template designs, they're just circular!
The circle card templates are 'cut and score' projects - this means that as well as your cutting machine cutting out the design, we'll need it to score the fold marks into the cardstock too. Most cutting machines can do this, or you can opt to delete the score lines and score your card and envelope by hand, if you prefer...
I have a page that goes into how to do this with your Cricut in great detail - it uses one of my square card templates as the example, but the directions are identical for these circular cards, the shapes are just circles instead! It also takes a look at choosing the right scoring tool, plus how to score manually, if you prefer that. Even if you're not using a Cricut, you will likely find this page helpful for setting up your template correctly in your own program. Read more here...
Once the card and envelope are cut, scored, and ready, I have a craft tutorial on this page that can help you to assemble everything together. Once again, the example card is one of my square card templates, but the instructions are exactly the same, you'll just be dealing with a card that's a circle instead of a square. Follow the tutorial here...
I'll link to both of these pages in the PDF instruction sheet that comes with your download, so that they're easy for you to find.
If you need the measurements for the card, they're here... (opens in a new window - make sure you're looking at the 'Circle' card measurements)
If you need any help with downloading the files, or using any of the file formats, that's here...
Help with using your Cricut is here...
Now, I'll share a closer look at each of the cards, to help you choose which you like the best. If you like them all, you can also get them as a set of all three designs...
I'll also share the materials I used for each, too (also below)...
The pretty sunflower lends itself perfectly to the round shape of this pretty card made with Cricut and it's perfect for birthdays in the summer months - the template for the sunflower card is in this sunflower yellow, with a white inner card and peach envelope (see below).
You can make the card in other colours, as well, though...
I made an alternative version in green and yellow, too, which I think looks quite fun and fresh (see below) - I also think it would look great copying either of the colour ideas from the bee card, too (see further down the page) as the subject matter really lends itself well to the bold yellow with a strong contrast.
Materials I used for the sunflower cards:

I wanted to make my circular floral birthday card template as a really pretty and feminine design, with lots of lovely flowers. I made the template in pink, with a white inner card, and a lighter pink envelope (see above and below)...
I also made the card in this pretty lilac colour, again with a white inner card, and a soft pink-purple envelope (see below)...

This one was actually my first circular card made with Cricut - and I had the idea to make a bee on it with some flowers. This one is also my personal favourite of my circular cards (so far!).
Of course, I had to do the card in yellow and black - so the template for this design has a yellow outer card, black inner card, and a peach envelope (see above and below)...
I also went for the same basic colour idea for my alternative version that you can see just below - black (actually very dark grey) for the outer card and a yellow inner card, along with a yellow envelope - quite striking, I think you'll agree..?
Materials I used for the bee cards:
If you like my bee birthday cards made with Cricut, you can make your own with my template available from my store at the link right below (instant digital download)...
