Whether you want a birthday card for the cat, from the cat, or just for a cat-lover, my cute cat birthday card SVG template is purrfect!
With a fun cat face and a cheerful Happy Birthday message, I'm sure that anyone who loves cats would love to receive the handmade card.
You will need three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized cardstock to make the card (including the envelope). The card is made using the standard Cricut sticky mat, not the specialist card mat.
The final card will be sized 12 x 12 cm (approx 4.75 x 4.75 inches) with an envelope that's a little larger (using the SVG as-is in Cricut).
The card template includes score lines for folding the card and envelope. These need to be set to score in Cricut or whichever cutting machine you choose to use. You can also cut and/or score manually if you prefer - by using the PNG file with a craft knife and blunt point like a knitting needle for the scoring if you want to do everything by hand - or if you just want to score manually, you can delete the score lines in your cutting machine's program and use a knitting needle or similar implement to score your lines...
I have full instructions for setting the lines to score in Cricut on this page - although the instructions are specifically for Cricut, they should help you understand the process and what needs to be done, which can be translated to your own machine. The instructions do also cover choosing a scoring tool and how to score manually, too - check it out here!
Once your card is cut and scored, the craft tutorial for how to fold and assemble the card and envelope is here.
I made the template for the cat birthday card in green for the outer card, a white inner card, and a blue envelope (see photo just above). I thought this was a fun, modern colour scheme that looked cheerful. I actually designed and made this card for my brother-in-law, who has a lovely cat, and I thought it was a colour combination that he'd like...
You can, of course, make the card in whichever colours you prefer. I like using a white inner card for many of my card templates as it gives a great contrast with most colours, which helps to define the design on the card so it stands out well, and it's good to write your message on inside the card as well!
I made my alternative colour idea a lovely pink card with a pale green envelope - see the photo just below...
This lovely pink cardstock caught my eye and I thought it would look great for my cat birthday card idea - it's a more feminine style but I love how it still looks contemporary and fun! This is one I'd send to my sister (co-owner of the lovely cat!)...
I think most colour cardstocks would work with this cute card card design, so have a think about what colours the recipient might like, then get creative and see what grabs you - I always like to try a different colour for an envelope, so you can really get colourful with that if you like - or stay neutral if you prefer, it's up to you!
