Celestial Sun-face Design Cricut Greeting Card Idea

I had lots of fun making this very sweet celestial sun-face design greeting card template for Cricut and other similar cutting machines.

I've actually used my sun-face design from my sun and moon SVG bundle to add to the card - I love it because as well as having a very cute hand-crafted style, I designed the card without text just so that you can use it for any occasion. I can think of lots of occasions where this design would be fantastic, from birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations, to births, sympathy, thank-yous, get well, new year or just to send your love and best wishes to friends and families or to add a quick note to anyone...

Celestial style greeting card template for any occasion

My celestial sun-face greeting card template makes a square card that's around 12 x 12 cm (4.75 x 4.75 inches) with an envelope that's a little larger.

It's easy to make and is made flat with 3 A4 or Letter-sized sheets of card stock. You will need to be able to score the card design, either manually or with your Cricut (or similar cutting machine). I've got full instructions for how to set up and score the template for Cricut users here - the page also discusses which scoring tool to get plus how to score manually if your cutting machine doesn't have a scoring tool or if you prefer not to use it. If you're using a non-Cricut cutting machine, please do also take a look as the instructions are very thorough and I think it will help you with how to set up the template correctly for your own cutting machine.

Colour Ideas

Two different colour ideas for the sun card SVG template

When I designed this Cricut greeting card idea with the celestial sun-face design, I had in mind a mystical or mythical kind of style so I tried to use colours that matched the celestial theme with a really dark blue-grey for my main card idea and a neutral gold colour that's much lighter for my alternate version.

So the template is for this dark blue-grey colour outer card which I paired with a much lighter cream or gold inner card to create the design. Always remember to choose a colour pairing here with lots of contrast to make the design really 'pop'!

I included a blue envelope on the template but I tried to keep the mystical vibe for the card by choosing a blue that pushes toward a purpley-lilac and with a pink-lilac reverse.

For this colour combination I used:

• Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured dark grey cardstock for the outer card (from the neutrals pack) - cut with the 'Cardstock for Intricate Cuts' setting in Cricut Design Space

• Craft Sensations Ombre Designs Pastel - 250 gsm - double-sided graduated colour card for the inner card and envelope (one sheet, with one side yellow to purple and the other blue to pink) - cut with the 'Medium Cardstock' setting

Mystical look sun-face card template in lilac and gold

I wanted to go for a softer, lighter, and warmer look for my alternative version of the celestial greeting card template, so I selected this warm gold for the outer card and paired it with a lilac inner card while also adding a pink and blue envelope to add colour and softness.

For this colour combination I used:

• Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured light gold/dark cream cardstock for the outer card (from the neutrals pack) - cut with the 'Cardstock for Intricate Cuts' setting in Cricut Design Space

• Craft Sensations Ombre Designs Bright - 250 gsm - double-sided graduated colour card for the inner card and envelope (one sheet, with one side lilac to pink and the other lilac to blue) - cut with the 'Medium Cardstock' setting
