'Congratulations' Engagement Card Making Ideas for You

I've got two beautiful Engagement Congratulations card templates to inspire you in your card making!

Two different designs (available separately) with one basic card template that's easy to make - I'll share more photos about both designs a bit later in the page, but first I want to show you how the templates work...

Congratulations on your Engagement card template - SVG, DXF, EPS, PNG

• The template includes an outer card with a cut-out design, an inner card, and an envelope.

• The card template cuts from three A4 or Letter-sized sheets of cardstock using the standard Cricut mat (not the specialist card mat).

• When you use the SVG as-is in Cricut, the finished card is approximately 12 x 12 cm (around 4.75 x 4.75 inches) with an envelope that's just a little larger.

• The card project is a 'cut and score' project - this means as well as cutting out the card (and envelope) designs, you will need to score the fold lines. Most cutting machines can do this if you have the correct scoring tool, or you can choose to score the lines by hand if you prefer. 

• If you're a Cricut user, I have a page with the full instructions for you to set the lines to score in Cricut Design Space - it may also help you if you use another type of cutting machine. It also discusses how to score by hand and choosing a scoring tool.

• Once your engagement card is cut and scored, I have a craft tutorial here to help you fold and assemble your card.

Both cards work just the same, it's just the design that's slightly different on each...

'Congratulations on your Engagement' card template - gold glitter cardstock cardmaking idea

I love the simplicity of this beautiful engagement card template - 'Congratulations on your Engagement' - it says it all... and with hand-drawn stars!

I really love the glittery gold cardstock that I found especially to go with this card design - if an engagement celebration isn't the time for a bit of gold and glitter, then I don't know what is!!

The template is made with a yellow/gold colour - as I really envisaged this design in a gold cardstock, but you can, of course, use any colour you like - and I've got another colour idea for you, too.

• The cardstock I've used for the gold glitter outer card is Crafter's Companion Ivory Glitter Card (single sided). I cut it using the 'Glitter cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space.

• The inner card is a dark purple and the envelope a soft blue - both lightweight 160gsm generic crafting cardstock - and cut using the 'Light cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space.

• I used my Cricut Maker for all.

Pretty pink and cream engagement card making idea

This is one you can make without a specialist glitter card! Just a simple cream outer card and a pretty pink inner card with a soft green envelope...

This card idea feels more pretty and feminine - but if you put a bright blue or a rich green inner card inside, the whole feel would be different, so you can really play with it to get the look you want!

• I used Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured cardstock for the cream outer card - and cut it with my Cricut Maker using the 'Intricate cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space.

• The pink inner card and the green envelope are generic 160gsm lightweight crafting cardstock - which I cut on the 'Light cardstock' setting.

'Congratulations' champagne glasses & hearts engagement card template

I also wanted to make a cute and colourful engagement card template - and came up with this sweet design with a simple 'Congratulations' message with a pair of champagne glasses and lots of hearts!

I designed it with an engagement in mind, but of course, you could use it for wedding congratulations or congratulations for a special anniversary, too...

I love the gold glittery card, but I also wanted to prove that these cards are gorgeous even without the special effects!

So my main template for this engagement card making idea is this really lovely salmon pink, with royal blue and a zingy green envelope - the look is contemporary, colourful, and fun! This is the colour you get in the template.

• The salmon pink outer card is Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured cardstock - I cut it in my Cricut Maker using the 'Cardstock for intricate cuts' setting.

• The blue inner card is Clairefontaine 185gsm cardstock in 'Midnight Blue' - I cut it using the 'Light cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space.

• The envelope is a generic crafting cardstock, 160gsm - I cut this using the 'Light cardstock' setting.

I also made the design in the glittery gold cardstock, too, to see how it looked...

Champagne and hearts engagement card idea

This time, I teamed up the same glittery gold cardstock with the lovely royal blue card and a pretty pink envelope - love this colour combination!

You could certainly play around with different colours and ideas to make the design your own - try simple neutrals for a minimal look, or lots of colour for bold, bright, and fun ideas!

• The gold outer card is Crafter's Companion Ivory Glitter Card - cut using the 'Glitter Cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space using my Cricut Maker.

• The blue inner card is Clairefontaine 185gsm cardstock in 'Midnight Blue' - cut with Cricut Design Space's 'Light cardstock' setting.

• The pink envelope is a generic coloured crafting cardstock (160 gsm) that I cut with the 'Light cardstock' setting.

Please remember, that if you use a dark coloured inner card and envelope (like this lovely 'Midnight Blue' cardstock) you will need to have a light-coloured pen that will write on it - usually white, silver, or gold gel pens or paint pens work well.
