I've been having fun with some designs on a Western theme - and I thought it would be nice to make a little card with some cowgirl (or cowboy) boots and a cheery 'Howdy!' greeting - for those occasions when you want to send a card just to say hello!
My Howdy card is easy to make - it cuts on the standard Cricut mat (not the specialist card mat) and uses 3 A4 or Letter-sized sheets of cardstock (to make both the card and envelope) to create a finished card that's around 12 x 12cm (that's approximately 4.75 x 5.75 inches).
We'll need to create score lines to help fold the card and envelope - these are all already on the template but you'll just need to set the lines to 'score' in Cricut Design Space before sending the project to cut. I have full instructions to do that on this page - if you're not using a Cricut, you may still find it helpful to follow the process to understand how to set things up on your own machine. There's also some help with choosing your scoring tool and how to score manually on the same page.
I also have a tutorial here to help you fold and assemble the card once it's cut and scored.
I made my template for the card in this nice orange with a white inner card and yellow envelope (see below)...
I thought the rich orange was a lovely colour idea for the Western theme - reminiscent of warm leather, chestnut horses, well-loved cowboy boots, and the colours of the landscape - the yellow gives it a cheerful touch - I've chosen a softer yellow cardstock with an 'ombre' effect fading into orange which I think looks great with the card.
My alternative colour idea for the Howdy card SVG template was a fun pink - this is perfect for those who love the cowgirl theme - see below...
I think the pink gives a really pretty feminine touch - I teamed it up with the same 'ombre' yellow/orange cardstock for the envelope - it has a nice green on the reverse, which you can see as the card interior. It manages to give quite a different effect to the orange card, I think.
For both cards, I've used my Cricut Maker and:
