New Job Card Templates

A new job is a special and exciting occasion that certainly needs to be marked with a lovely card!

I've created two new job card templates for you - one that says 'Congratulations' on your new job - and the other that wishes 'Good Luck' in your new job - so that you can use them for slightly different new job situations (if you just want a 'Sorry you're Leaving' card, I have that here)...

Both cards are the same basic template - here are some things you need to know about how the template works...

  • The card templates are 'cut and score' projects - the card designs need cutting and the fold lines need scoring. You can do this with your cutting machine or by hand.
  • If you're a Cricut user, I have full instructions for setting up the lines to score correctly in Cricut Design Space on this page here - you might also find this useful if you're using another type of cutting machine or if you want to score the lines by hand.
  • I also have a step-by-step craft tutorial to help you fold and assemble the card once cut and scored - you can find that here...
  • Used as is in Cricut Design Space, the SVG file makes a finished card that's around 12 x 12 cm (approx. 4.75 x 4.75 inches) with an envelope that's just a little larger.
  • The new job card template cuts from three A4 or Letter-sized sheets of cardstock.
  • The template uses the standard Cricut mat (not the specialist card mat).

I think that's all the basics out the way - so let's take a closer look at each of the new job card designs, starting with the 'Congratulations' new job card (the 'Good Luck' new job card design will follow after)...

New Job Congratulations Card Template

I made my 'Congratulations' new job card template in this really bold teal and teamed it up with a white inner card and a fun yellow envelope - it's a cheerful look for a happy occasion!

These are the colours the template comes in. Of course, you can use any colours you want for the card - so I had a little fun with an alternative colour idea that I hope will also inspire you (you can also check out the 'Good Luck' new job card templates further down this page for more colour ideas)...

The alternate colour is a lovely rich purple for the outer card, again with a white for the inner card (for contrast to make the design stand out really well) and a soft green envelope. I think this look is more of a classic colour combination, compared to the teal one that's bright and fun.

I cut the cards with my Cricut Maker:

  • For both of these cards, I used Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured cardstock for the outer card, which I cut using the 'Cardstock for intricate cuts' setting in Cricut Design Space.
  • For the inner card and envelope of both cards, I used a generic lightweight craft card (160gsm) in white (inner card) and different colours (envelope). I cut them using the 'Light cardstock' setting in Cricut Design Space.

Good Luck New Job Card Template

New job good luck card template'Good Luck in your New Job' card template - yellow and peach

I designed my 'Good Luck in your New Job' card template in yellow and orange/peach - I've gone for a soft yellow cardstock here, but you could definitely use a brighter yellow if you wanted (or paler again, if you prefer). The yellow is a really happy and optimistic colour, which I think is perfect for a new start like a new job!

I've used white cardstock for the inner card as it creates a really good contrast against most colours - which means the design stands out well and is easy to read.

I've made you an alternative colour idea, as well, which will hopefully help you to get inspired and get creative with your card colour choices. You can look at the 'Congratulations' new job cards on this page, too, for more ideas...

My alternate colour idea for the 'Good Luck in your New Job' card is a lovely fresh green, which I paired up with the white inner card again (for contrast) and a pretty lemon envelope.

I chose this, going with the idea of a new job being a fresh start, with the greens and yellows looking fresh, spring like, and making me think of a new year, fresh new shoots, and a fresh start with that wonderful opportunity of a new job holding all kinds of promise...
