My unicorn birthday card template is perfect for unicorn lovers of all ages - little kids to magical grandparents!

It's based on my hand-drawn unicorn design, and also has lots of hand-drawn stars and hearts along with the 'Happy Birthday' message.

Unicorn birthday card template - magical birthday style!

My unicorn card SVG is a cut and score project for cutting machines like Cricut - it uses three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized cardstock and cuts flat on the standard Cricut sticky mat.

You will need to set the lines to score in Cricut Design Space (or your software of choice if you have another make of cutting machine) - I have some help for Cricut users to do that on this page, along with a discussion about choosing the right scoring tool for your Cricut machine or scoring by hand, if you prefer - even if you're not a Cricut user, do take a look as it may help you set things up on your own cutting machine, too...

Once everything is cut and scored, I also have a craft tutorial to help you fold and assemble the card and envelope - that's here...

The template makes a card that's around 12 x 12 cm (approx. 4.75 x 4.75 inches) with an envelope that's a little bigger. You can, of course, resize it to suit your needs.

Pretty pink and cream unicorn birthday card template

The template for the unicorn card SVG is in a simple white or cream with a pink inner card and a bright pink envelope - see the image above...

I wanted to choose a really pretty and feminine colour scheme for the card and these colours gave a great contrast for the design and also a sweet girlie look.

I actually found an 'ombre' effect cardstock (details below) for the interior so the pink is graduated slightly with a more orangey-pink at the top and a more purpley-pink towards the bottom - this adds to the magical feel and I think it's a really good look for the card, so if you have something like this in your craft stash, this would be a good opportunity to use it.

I stayed with the feminine feel for my alternative colour idea - keeping it simple with a pale pink card and white inner card and pretty peach envelope - see the image below...

Of course, unicorns aren't just pink! You can choose any colours you want for your unicorn birthday card - white and cream are great colours to include somewhere, as we do think of unicorns as white.

Other good colours are lilac or purple, as these give a mystical feel - a navy blue, as this also has a magical idea about it - if you want to go for a woodland unicorn feel for your card, greens will really work out well for that kind of idea.

For the cards you see on this page, I used my Cricut Maker and:

• Sizzix 'Surfacez' textured cardstock for the outer cards - cut with the 'Cardstock for intricate cuts' setting in Cricut Design Space

• Eastlight Premium white cardstock (160 gsm) for the white inner card - cut using the 'Light Cardstock' setting

• Craft Sensations Ombre Designs Bright (250gsm) for the pink 'ombre' inner card - cut using the 'Medium Cardstock' setting

• Dovecraft 12" x 12" Colours Paper Pack (120gsm) for the envelopes - cut using the 'Copy Paper' setting
